What Does the Bible Say About Fear?

What the Bible says

1. Scripture

   For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

   Fear is not presented as the final voice over your life. Scripture points to power, love, and a sound mind as gifts from God.

2. Scripture

   Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God.

   This verse does not say there will be nothing frightening. It says God is present in the middle of what frightens you.

3. Scripture

   What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.

   The Bible gives language for fear without shame. Even when fear is present, trust can still be chosen.

Fear often grows when you feel alone or powerless. The Bible answers fear by bringing your attention back to God’s nearness and the strength He gives.
