How Do I Know If I Really Repented?

The Bible describes real repentance through honesty, humility, and a sincere desire to turn away from sin. Repentance does not mean becoming instantly perfect, but it does involve a changed direction of the heart.

What the Bible says

  1. Scripture
Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance.
    Matthew 3:8

The Bible teaches that repentance eventually produces visible change.

  2. Scripture
A broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
    Psalm 51:17

Humility and sincerity are central signs of repentance.

  3. Scripture
Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation.
    2 Corinthians 7:10

The Bible distinguishes genuine conviction from empty regret.
