Forgiveness & BetrayalScripture-grounded answer
Does God Forgive My Past?
The Bible repeatedly shows people with broken pasts receiving mercy after repentance. Scripture does not teach that a person becomes spotless through denial. It teaches forgiveness through turning back to God honestly.
What the Bible says
- Scripture
If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.
2 Corinthians 5:17 The Bible presents forgiveness as real change, not merely pretending the past never happened.
- Scripture
As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
Psalm 103:12 Scripture describes forgiveness as complete rather than partial.
- Scripture
Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
John 8:11 Mercy is paired with a call toward changed living.
A grounded way to understand this
The Bible consistently teaches that forgiveness is possible. The harder part is often learning to stop living entirely inside the weight of the past.
